Spanish bingo hits North Las Vegas casino

A North Las Vegas casino is trying to broaden its appeal by billing itself as “Las Vegas’ first and only” with bingo in Spanish.

Bingo Lotería debuted about a month ago at Lucky Club, 3227 Civic Center Drive. It takes place at 7 and 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

“The Latin community is a very important segment based on the location,” said Seth Schorr, owner of Lucky Club. Locals casinos generally market to people who live within two miles, and based on the location of the Lucky Club, it makes sense to embrace the Hispanic community, Schorr said.

The game is called in Spanish and English and it is an all-paper session. Lucky Club uses the more traditional bingo cards, Schorr said, because ?guests like the nostalgia of the paper.?

Those who win the 11-game bingo session move on to participate in a bonus round of lotería, a Mexican game of chance that is similar to bingo but, instead of numbered ping-pong balls, uses a deck of cards with images on them.

The payouts depend on the color of the card that a player purchases and can be as high as $1,500. There is also a $300 jackpot for players who get bingo on a “Caliente Ball”.

Bingo takes place on the first level of the casino.

Downtown Grand Hotel Casino Introduces Street Dice Brand New Table Game Created by Ceo Seth Schorr

A brand-new twist on an age-old classic arrives at Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino this month: Street Dice. This craps-style game is the brainchild of Downtown Grand CEO Seth Schorr, who envisioned a lively, crowd-pleasing outdoor gaming experience reminiscent of the back-alley dice games that flourished in urban centers during the Mob’s heyday. Inspired by Downtown Grand’s proximity to The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, Street Dice is ONLY available at Downtown Grand.

Played outdoors on a custom-designed table fronting Third Street and the Downtown3rd dining and community gathering space, Street Dice is an exciting, easy-to-learn game that will beckon passersby to try their luck. It’s a quick version of a pass line bet in craps, in which a shooter rolls the dice once to set the point, and then must hit the point within three subsequent rolls of the dice to win. Skilled craps players and novice gamblers alike will get a thrill from the dynamic action involved in throwing the game’s extra-large dice into a ground-level tub in an effort to match the point and collect their winnings. The ground-level tub and gritty, brick-and-mortar table graphics were designed to recall the setting of real back-alley craps games, when dice were thrown onto the pavement only to bounce off the brick wall of a building.
