Casino Tech and the Need to Embrace Newer Technologies and Gambling Techniques

From a business administration or file storage perspective, cloud computing has all of the benefits for the casino business as any other business. However, due to the highly regulated nature of the casino business there are some limitations. For example, any server in which gaming data is being accessed or stored must be physically located on property and not in a co-location facility or in the cloud.

One of my companies, Bet on Yourself Gaming, was recently working with MGM Grand and Golfstream (a virtual reality golf simulator) to develop and operate skill-based gaming tournaments and other games of skill. In non-casino installations, Golfstream’s tech stack was in the cloud but for this casino installation the servers had to be moved to a physical location at the casino property.

New music and esports festival coming to Las Vegas

At long last, joysticks and Marshall stacks shall be united.

Or something like that.

And it’s going to happen right here in Las Vegas.

The newly announced Metarama Gaming + Music Festival will debut Oct. 19 and 20 at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds, the site where Rock in Rio took place in 2015, near the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Sahara Avenue.

Produced by C3 Presents, which puts on Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, Shaky Knees and other multiday music festivals, in conjunction with Scott London and Seth Schorr from Esports Hospitality Concepts, which has supported the Vegas Rogue esports team and run hundreds of live esports events in the city, Metarama will seek to be a new kind of destination fest merging marquee gaming, esports, comedy, cosplay and live music in an all-ages environment.

C3 Presents unveiled today its plans for Metarama, a new festival to be held at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds Oct. 19-20, blending live music and video games.

The event is being put on in partnership with Esports Hospitality Concepts. The dual founders of EHC, Scott London and Seth Schorr, have worked with numerous esports companies and boast experience with “hundreds of live esports events in Las Vegas.”

The official announcement is short on specifics: artists, live games, comedy, cosplay and streaming are all being promised and follow-up information is available via social media, email notification and a dedicated discord server.

Metarama means not only is one of North America’s premier large-festival promoters entering into the esports/gaming space but, as C3 Presents was acquired by Live Nation in 2014, it marks the world’s largest concert promoter’s entry.

KonekTV, Joe Hand Promotions to Bring Sportsbook Experience to Philadelphia Sports Bars

This is the best time of the year for sports bars in the United States, as the NFL and college football seasons pack the venues every weekend.

With mobile sports betting live in Pennsylvania since May, sports bars in the Keystone State see the potential to attract even more customers.

Local company Joe Hand Promotions and Las Vegas-based KonekTV are looking to capitalize on this by teaming up to turn Philadelphia sports bars into mini sportsbooks.

Nongaming revenue continues to grow in Nevada’s casino-resorts

Since 1999, revenue generated by nongaming amenities has exceeded casino revenue in Nevada.

Two decades later, panelists at the final education session of the 2019 Global Gaming Expo explored trends and, more importantly, how knowing them can help resorts determine what they should be offering to draw a crowd that is gradually getting younger.

The four-day event, the largest casino industry gathering in the world, closed its doors at the Sands Expo and Convention Center on Thursday afternoon.

The closing act explored a topic that has confounded casino executives who are seeing their loyal customer base aging and staying away.
